The increasing occurrences of shooting massacres in the past decade has naturally raised the sense of foreboding to new levels. But the shootings which took place on our military installations; one in 2009 on Ft. Hood, and the other in 2013 at the Navy Yard are the most frightening.
A total of 25 women and men who were trained, equipped and ready; who had made a promise to defend our nation but were shot down in spite of the highest skill, mindset and preparation.
And why? Because they were in gun free zones at their respective installations. They were in compliance to law and policy, but their compliance could not save their lives from those bent on evil and destruction.
……these heroes were defenseless, not having the necessary tools to properly fight back and defend themselves. The question must be asked: why are those who are thoroughly trained and sworn to defend this country and its people not trusted to carry weapons for their own defense?
