Accidents happen everyday from electricity, hot stove and even swimming pool drownings. And, as responsible parents, we all know well that certain age, personality and maturity level of children should be watched carefully for all hazards around the home. However, we don’t stop using electricity, stoves or pools. We simply improve our skills as parents to teach safety proactively to our children.
Does that include safe storage of all guns, loaded or unloaded, all the time? For mothers with toddlers or children who have never been taught the safety rules for firearms, absolutely. That said, a mother needs the ability to defend her family with her loaded, defensive handgun located on her person throughout the waking hours of the day.
You will have to choose what is best for your and your family.

My God could you get a more bias person to tell this story….those kids and their parents had an important story to tell, but the reporter was totally intent on talking about what a bad idea this was for kids….how the parents were wrong to allow kids around guns….this reporter should come to the south side of Chicago and explain to the kids there how they should put down their guns and quit killing other kids. These kids and their parents are doing it right and instead of praising them the reporter was really trying to vilifie all the people involved. ….again the liberal media has their own agenda and that’s all they want us to hear…..well since people are now very aware of how curupt the liberal media is,we all read between the lines and see a really good story about good kids and their very responsible parents
Ver y GOOD.
🙂 i know u must be one proud Dad!! Excellent!!
I totally agree, Josette. This is what solid American parents are up against but we think they did a superb job of standing their ground graciously. The bottom line is when you get home in the private moments of your family – do they know how to defend themselves – and for these families – we’re thrilled for them because they can say a great big “yes” and sleep more soundly and have more peace as a result! Have a great day and thanks for sharing!
Yes sir I’am
In todays america this is necessary what a shame, Thank killary and obama and their mentor soros
Dad taught my sister and I how to aim and shoot and respect guns when we were old enough to hold one. He kept most of them in the basement of our Ohio home, they weren’t locked up but neatly placed above his work bench. We never bothered them because we were taught from the beginning of our lives not to touch what isn’t yours. We never snooped through their closets or drawers and never messed with the guns unless Dad invited us. Maybe we were just obedient daughters or Dad and Mom were great parents but we grew up respecting guns and property and I could shoot a quarter off a fence post with one eye shut. Sometimes, where I live now, I see so many people that do not have respect for anybody, they will steal a recipe from your favorite recipe collection and I sure as heck wouldn’t let them know where I keep my guns.
Oh wait…..isn’t that a semi automatic. .22 rifle?? News flash, there are lots of em out there….and no one ever cared before… .22 is as deadly as any.
Please could somebody please explain as to WHY mums feel that they SHOULD TEACH THEIR DAUGHTERS/ SONS TO SHOOT??? CONSIDERING SO MANY “IDIOTS” HAVE GONE INTO SCHOOLS, KILLING THEIR FRIENDS, JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN.
Responsible gun owners do not run around shooting people; they know the value of life and the damage that could be done.
Hey Lynn – you just answered your own question. So when the kid is in a situation they can shoot back while your kid is trying to hide behind a hollow door for protection.
