Never get involved in a caliber war
Good piece of advice. Never get in a land war in Asia is another.
I got a 40 when there was a run on 9mm ammo and you couldn’t find it so its my back up gun for edc I got almost 5 k in rounds for it
I have a XD 45 tactical with + 3 mag ext. 16+1 , it only take 1 to the head and game over with the pdx1 by Winchester !!!
Good luck making a head shot in a gunfight. It’s not like your range tinge 2 shooting paper targets.
I think the guy has a very good point.
Simple answer 45 . Been the best for over a hundred years. My carry is a Kimber Custom II 45. Ammo R.I.P
Only military branch that uses .40 cal is the coast guard.
Not all military, SEALs carry 45acp sigs and hk45c
I think 40 sucks because its snappy… If either go 45acp or 9mm
I’m with you on that shoot both 9mm and 45acp. I had a 40 cal hated it and sold it. Nobody in my family could get any decent accuracy because of the snappy recoil.
Tired and old debate!!
Carry what you like.
Really, the military doesn’t use different calibers? 5.56, 7.62, 9mm, .45 anyone? The military uses pretty much all calibers. Dude did nothing but defend this dumb opinion of his. .40 is the superior round and comes in the same general size as most 9MMs do. The G27 and the xd40 are good examples. If a .40 is too much to handle, use the 9mm, sure, but don’t switch to 9 for this ” ” “.
I think you should carry the biggest caliber that you can carry and shoot comfortably. If it’s a 380 so be it.
As a retired LEO… I’ve carried both the 9MM and the 40 cal as a duty weapon…
Usually either in the S&W or Sig… Only because that’s what was issued… And that’s what I own now… The Glocks are popular and that’s fine… But for me I prefer the S&W or especially the Sig.
It’s like Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge… Personal choice and feel etc…
Anyway, 40 cal is a bit more of a knock down round.
But a 9MM JHP round will be effective as well..
If you properly place center mass hits…
It’s also easier to handle for both myself, but especially for the wife.
Also we (I) have the 9MM in a semi and a revolver…
So that gives us uniformity in one round… (type of round)
But as I’ve said, I’ve got both calibers at my disposal…. But I lean towards the 9MM over the 40 cal… Just a bit more versatile.
So I am heavier in the 9MM round probably at a rate of 5 to 3….I’ll buy 5 boxes of 9’s to 3 boxes of 40’s
That seems to work out well for us… Just my thought /opinion here…
There’s probably no “right or wrong” as much as preference…
Save some cash and just pick up 9mm barrels and mags. I have four 40 cal glocks. 2 each 27 and 23. Bought two threaded barrels and some mags for the price of one new glock.
Hogwash, just go to a .45ACP and be done with all this BS!.
The only reason to switch to 9mm is because you want to. Anything else is a rationalization.
