With new students at the range I will usually just have them set the handgun down on the bench if they hear a click or feel something isn’t right with the gun after they’ve tried shooting a round. That’s okay at the range when gun safety if paramount with new shooters but sooner or later they will be out by themselves and will need to know how to handle these 3 different types of malfunctions.
